Grandma’s Church
Grandma’s church was located in a serene rural community. It was a simple wooden structure without the modern amenities found in today’s places of worship. However, it was filled with the spirit and unwavering faith of its congregation. Worship in Grandma’s church focused on the strength of the community and their shared faith. Despite the lack of material comforts and wealth among its members, the church was rich in love, compassion, and dedication to a higher power. Every Sunday felt like a family reunion, with people of all ages gathering in their finest clothes, eager to greet each other with warm hugs and friendly smiles. The traditional hymns sung on Sunday mornings were not just songs but cherished melodies that carried stories of hope, struggles, and triumphs.
I miss those days because, over the years, some things have been lost—intimate fellowship, communal prayer, and an undistracted focus on the Lord. Those simple pews and unadorned altars united the faithful and were like luxurious thrones in God’s eyes. I love and miss Grandma and Grandma’s church.
