Morning Post
Long before the dawn of social media, daily news was delivered to your doorstep, or could be readily found under the lean arms of eager young entrepreneurs on the busy streets of sprawling metropolises across the country. Award-winning artist Kadir Nelson paints a young newsboy proudly perched at his early morning post at a busy Harlem intersection during the 1920s. The air is crisp and steam rises from the bowels of the city whilst the morning sun peaks over brownstones and apartment buildings. The African-American newspaper, The Amsterdam News, appears oversized against the youngster’s slight frame; his hardened expression offers a glimpse into the life and work ethic akin to Big City newsboys.
