The Horn Blower
In Africa, the hornblower is an important member of the community. He is the communicator. The one that is relied upon to create awareness and disseminate useful information. He also has the responsibility of announcing the arrival of royalty or other leaders.Â
Allen Haru depicts this Hornblower as having a mouth made up of two horns. This represents how effective and impactful this individual is when it comes to communicating with others and sharing important information.
The original work of art was a mixed media creation consisting of oil on canvas and the clothing was actually crafted out of African kente cloth.
