Another member of Edwin Lester’s celebrated “Music in Motion” series. This release was inspired by the life of Nina Simone. It depicts Nina at the piano amidst a smoky and colorful backdrop. In the smoke, you see the words “Feeling Good”. “Feeling Good” is a song from Nina’s 1965 album “I Put a Spell on You”. The song was originally written to express a particular kind of euphoria: that which comes with liberation from oppression.
“The High Priestess of Soul,” Nina Simone was a singer, pianist, songwriter, and civil rights, activist. Mostly known as a jazz singer, her music blended gospel, blues, folk, pop, and classical styles. No popular singer was more closely associated with the Civil Rights Movement than Simone.
