Fra Fra Dancer Mask
An authentic African mask inspired by and depicting a proud member of the Gur ethnic group of Ghana and Burkino Faso. It is constructed primarily from Sese wood. The mask features a beard made out of jute, tribal markings made with recycled aluminium accents and ridges at the top of the mask representing their braided hair.
This mask measures approximately 12.25 inches (height), 5.75 inches (width) and 2.2 inches (depth). It features a rustic finish and is intended to be used as indoor wall decor. Made by Master Artisan Awudu Saaed and three apprentices.
Each mask is handcrafted and imported from Ghana and your purchase helps support local Ghanaian artisans, their family and community. Each item is handmade so their may be slight and subtle differences in size, color and pattern. These slight differences is what makes each African Mask unique and a true work of art.
The Gur people are also known by their colonial names of Fra-Fra or Fare-Fare which originated from their typical greeting of “Ya Fara-Fara?” which translates as “How is Your Work (Suffering)?”.
