Akyiglinyi Mask
A large and truly exquisite beaded African Mask crafted by Master Artisan Awudu Saaed and his team.Â
This mask featured brass triangles on the forehead is adorned with red, blue, green, black and yellow colorful glass beads. In the middle of the forehead resides an elephant totem which is where the mask derives its name.
This African mask is titled “Akyiglinyi” which means Elephant in the Ewe language. Ewe is most prevalent in Togo and the Southeastern regions of Ghana. The Elephant has always been a symbol of strength and power.
This mask measures approximately 14.25 inches (height), 11.75 inches (width) and 5.75 inches (depth). It is made out of Rubberwood and features vibrant red, blue, green, black and white recycled glass beads, and brass accents. Weighs 4.2 lbs.
Rubberwood is an eco-friendly wood and utilizes wood from trees that no longer produce latex (Over 30 years old). The wood is used in home decor so that a new Rubber tree can be planted in that location.
