Akaoben and Akofen Mask
An authentic African mask carved from Sese wood in Ghana by Daniel Quarcoo and his team of local artisans. It is hand-painted, adorned with the Akaoben and Akofena Adinkra symbols and features a bird perched atop of the mask. This is the bird that whispers wise counsel.
The meaning of the two Adinkra symbols are below:
Akaoben: This horn used to sound the battle cry. It represents vigilance and wariness.
Akofena: The Swords of War. It represents heroism, valor and courage.
This mask measures 17.25 inches (Height) x 6.75 inches (Length) x 3 inches (Width). The perfect piece of wall decor to use to incorporate elements from Mother Africa into your home.
Each mask is handcrafted and imported from Ghana and your purchase helps support local Ghanaian artisans, their family and the community. Each item is handmade so there may be slight and subtle differences in size, color and pattern. These slight differences are what makes each African Mask unique and a true work of art.
