Choose Peace
“It is no longer a choice, my friends, between violence and nonviolence. It is either nonviolence or nonexistence.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
In the ballet of life, she is poised atop a grotesque mountain of steel and lead, a chilling symphony of potential violence. Yet her delicate fingers do not reach for these harbingers of destruction but instead, extend towards an emissary of tranquility–a dove. We must all recognize that the salvation of humanity lies not in the cold embrace of the gun but in the warm grasp of peace.
The ballerina’s choice, like ours, is far from easy. The allure of power, embodied by the firearm, is seductive, promising protection and dominance. Yet, she in her divine wisdom recognizes that such promises are illusions. True power, true security, emanates not from the barrel of a gun but from the heart. It is born from an understanding nurtured by compassion and fortified by unity.
We must take flight and soar above the clamor of conflict and envision a world where harmony silences the gunshots. To choose peace over a piece is to choose love over fear, unity over division, life over death. It is to dance to the rhythm of human solidarity, to choreograph a future where each step, each leap, takes us further from the precipice of violence and closer to the promise of peace.
