Low And Away
A work of art from the New York Times Best-Selling book, “WE ARE THE SHIP: The Story of Negro League Baseball” by Kadir Nelson. “LOW AND AWAY” portrays fire-ball pitcher, Stuart “Slim” Jones, from the Philadelphia Stars, throwing past a the Pittsburgh Crawfords batter at Yankee Stadium in 1934. During this dramatic contest Jones faced the legendary pitcher, Satchel Paige, and the two battled to a 1 – 1 tie, having to call it quits when the game was called due to darkness.
