Mansa Musa & The Moors
A powerful piece of artwork with a historical theme by Alhaji Sule. It depicts Mansa Khan Khan Musa and the Moors during his historic pilgrimage to Mecca.
Mansa Musa’s wealth was reported to be too large to be imagined or equalled. Those outside of West Africa, became aware of Mansa Musa during his pilgrimage to Mecca. As a devout Muslim, Musa was obligated to make this journey. He made this pilgrimage between 1324 and 1325. His procession reportedly included 60,000 men, all wearing brocade and Persian silk, including 12,000 servants, who each carried 4lbs of gold bars, and heralds dressed in silks, who bore gold staffs, organized horses, and handled bags.
It was an epic event that cemented his legacy and that of the great Malian Empire throughout the world. He will forever be remembered for his Islamic faith, promotion of scholarship, generosity and patronage of culture.
Perfect for those who appreciate and love artwork with a historical theme.
