The Caddy
A signed and numbered limited edition giclee by John Holyfield inspired by famous African American golf caddies such as Carl Jackson, Heman Mitchell, Alfred “Rabbit” Dyer, Nathaniel “Iron Man” Avery, and the others who paved the way for African American caddies in the world of golf.
A golf caddy is an indispensable asset for any and all golfers – particularly professional players. They carry the golfer’s golf bag and provide tactical advice on how to navigate the golf course by reading greens, helping with distance measurements, and providing other tips on how to play specific rounds and reach certain holes. In addition, they assist by helping to choose the right golf clubs, keep the clubs and equipment clean and dry, and offer encouragement and other moral support. Golf courses and clubs might employ some caddies, yet others are independent contractors hired by individual golfers for particular rounds or competitions. Caddies play a major role in supporting golfers to achieve peak performance while on the course.
This work of art by John Holyfield depicts an African American golf caddy focused and thinking about the best way to assist and advise the golfer. It is available on either archival paper or premium canvas. Ships signed and numbered and with a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
The original work of art is currently displayed at the United States Golf Association Museum.
