Two Street Sounds
An open edition work of art that explores jazz and musical themes by Larry “Poncho” Brown. It was originally created in 2010 and commissioned by Venture Richmond for the 22nd anniversary of the 2nd Street Festival of Richmond, VA.
The 2nd Street Festival is an annual event that celebrates the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood. The Jackson Ward community is often referred to as the “Harlem of the South” due to it being a vibrant cultural and business district that thrived during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was the center of African American economic and social life in Richmond, Virginia and played a crucial role in the city’s history.
Venture Richmond is a non-profit organization based in Richmond, Virginia, dedicated to promoting and enhancing the vitality and vibrancy of the city’s downtown area. The organization collaborates with various stakeholders, including businesses, residents, and government entities, to support economic development, cultural events, and community initiatives in downtown Richmond.
